Privacy Policy

TableTeller LLC ("TableTeller," "we," "us") helps restaurants hear from their guests. Restaurants ("owners") use TableTeller to send their guests a short survey by text or email after an order, see the answers, and follow up with guests who had a bad visit. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who this covers
- Owners and managers who sign up for TableTeller and text with us.
- Guests of restaurants that use TableTeller, who may receive a survey text or email about an order they placed.
- Visitors to tableteller.com.
What we collect
From owners and managers: name, mobile number, email, restaurant name and address, settings you choose, and the messages you send us. If you connect a point-of-sale system such as Square, we receive the data you authorize: orders, items, totals, locations, and the customer contact details stored in that system. We never see your POS password; you sign in on the POS provider's own page and can disconnect at any time.
From guests: the name, mobile number and/or email the guest gave the restaurant with their order, the order details, the rating and comments the guest sends back, and replies to the restaurant.
From everyone: basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to run and secure the service.
How we use it
- To send a guest one short survey about their order, and to send their answer to the restaurant.
- To alert owners when a guest had a bad visit and, only when the owner approves, send that guest a note and offer from the restaurant.
- To tell owners when a guest came back, and to send summaries and reports the owner asked for.
- To answer owners' questions about their own feedback and sales.
- To run, secure, support and improve TableTeller, and to comply with the law.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use guest information to market TableTeller or anyone else's products to guests.
Text messages (SMS)
Owners and managers agree to receive account texts from TableTeller (alerts, approvals, summaries and replies) when they sign up at tableteller.com/start and check the consent box, or when they text TableTeller first.
Guests may receive one survey text about an order they placed at a restaurant that uses TableTeller, using the mobile number they gave that restaurant with the order. A guest gets at most one survey from the same restaurant every 30 days, plus replies to any message the guest sends. Survey texts are only sent between 8 am and 9 pm in the restaurant's local time.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to stop texts. Reply HELP for help, or email support@tableteller.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver the messages for us (such as our SMS provider), who may use it only to provide that service.
Who we share it with
- The restaurant the guest ordered from sees that guest's survey answers and replies. Each restaurant only sees its own guests.
- Service providers that run TableTeller for us, under contracts that limit their use of the data: hosting and database (Vercel, Supabase), text messages and calls (Twilio), email (Resend), payments (Stripe), point-of-sale connections (Square), maps (Google), and AI models that read survey replies and draft messages (Anthropic, OpenAI).
- Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of guests, owners or TableTeller.
- A business transfer: if TableTeller is sold or merged, this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
How long we keep it
We keep owner account data while the account is open. We keep guest survey answers and messages for as long as the restaurant uses TableTeller, and delete or anonymize them within 90 days after a restaurant closes its account, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Opt-out records are kept so we keep honoring STOP.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Point-of-sale access tokens are encrypted at rest, and access to data is limited to what each person or system needs. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us at support@tableteller.com if you believe something is wrong.
Your choices
- Stop texts: reply STOP. Stop survey emails with the unsubscribe link.
- Access, correct or delete: email support@tableteller.com. Guests can also ask the restaurant directly. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, and we will honor them.
- Owners can disconnect their POS and close their account at any time.
Children
TableTeller is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell owners about important changes. Questions: support@tableteller.com. See also our Terms of Service.
